Misty Mountain Location

Misty Mountain is approximately halfway between Sydney and Brisbane and is best accessed through the town of Kempsey. From Kempsey, the drive to the retreat is sixty-eight kilometres on one of the most beautiful drives in Australia. After leaving the busy Pacific Highway and the last major fuel stop of Kempsey, the road meanders through the small village of Willawarrin, providing you with grand vistas of the mighty Macleay River. The Macleay Valley offers a rich history in aboriginal culture and is one of the last coastal valleys that remains undeveloped in NSW.

A right turn at the Nulla Nulla Creek Road offers a scenic drive, where still to be seen are stockmen on their horses, as they watch their cattle grazing between the pristine creeks. You will pass the Slim Dusty boyhood home; take a minute to stop and press the button on the sign, where Slim himself will tell you a bit of the history and sing you one of his favourite songs. From there, another five kilotmetres of unsealed but well-serviced road brings you to your magnificent hideaway, called Misty Mountain.
